After viewing the video, create your own stained glass window.

      1. Create a workable design.  Will your design be symmetrical or asymmetrical?  Draw big and avoid small details.

      2. Once your design is complete, trace over your drawing with the black glue provided.

      3. When the glue is dry, erase any stray pencil marks you can see.

      4. Add color to your work using water color paints.  To make your work more interesting, try    using a variety of colors when painting.  For example, if you choose to paint your sky blue; instead of painting every piece of the sky the same color - use the color wheel to help you mix different variations of blue.  Blue-green, Blue, Blue-Violet.  Try not to paint the each touching pieces the same color.

      5. Once your work is dry, photograph it and upload it to the Stained Glass Photo Gallery.

After you view the powerpoint, take a look at the website of local stained glass artist Troy Knight who lives in Lavalette, WV.  Look at his gallery for Home/Business, Religious Settings, and Techniques.  Please respond to the following in your post - If you had your own stained glass business:

  • What would you name your business?
  • Would your focus be on making religious or secular works of art? Why?
  • What types of subject matter would your artwork contain?
  • Would color play a symbolic role in your work as Troy associates in his religiously themed art?

After reviewing examples of Pilgrim Glass cameos, design your own cameo glass piece.  Will it be an object or a vessel?  What subject matter will you use in your design and why?  Use the ipad to upload a picture of your work to the gallery.
